More Than a Monthly Fee

A Group of Charleston membership isn't a transaction — it's an entry into a fitness community that holds you accountable, celebrates your progress, and adapts as your life changes. Every tier includes full access to our locker rooms, towel service, unlimited filtered water, and the Group of Charleston mobile app for class booking and workout logging. No initiation fees on any plan. No contracts longer than month-to-month unless you want the annual discount. Our front-desk team can walk you through each option in person or by phone — we'd rather you pick the right plan than the most expensive one.

Membership Questions, Answered

Is there an enrollment or startup fee?

No. Every tier starts with zero enrollment fees and zero equipment fees. The monthly rate you see is the rate you pay from day one. We made this decision in 2019 and have never reversed it — hidden startup costs undermine the trust that community depends on.

Can I freeze my membership if I travel or get injured?

Yes. Members on any tier can request a freeze of up to 60 consecutive days per calendar year at no charge. Freezes beyond 60 days are available at a $15/month hold fee. Submit your request via the app or at the front desk at least three business days before your billing date.

What happens if I want to upgrade or downgrade mid-month?

Tier changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Upgrades are confirmed immediately so you can access higher-tier features right away; the prorated difference is charged on your next statement. Downgrades are queued and activate on renewal — no partial refunds on the current month.

Are there discounts for couples or families?

Yes — households with two or more members on the same billing account receive 10% off all tiers for each additional member. Student and first-responder discounts (15% off Foundation and Community tiers) are available with valid ID. Discounts cannot be combined.

Do class credits carry over to the next month?

No. Community tier credits reset on your monthly billing date. This is intentional: it keeps class sizes consistent and ensures that members with active schedules have reliable access to their preferred sessions. If you consistently exceed 12 classes per month, our staff will suggest upgrading to All-In.
